Monday, July 13th, my Dad called my Mom from work and said he needed backup. He'd thought he had the flu or something.. She went to help, and he was very sick and stopped breathing for a while. She passed out from the shock, and an ambulance got there, gave her oxygen, and took my dad to the hospital.. She rode to the hospital with the police, and I called a friend of the family todrive me to meet her there. (My mom took my car to my dad's patient's house..) Once at the hospital, they did many tests, and they all seemed normal. He was having seizures...and with no history of seizures, it's not a good thing, to just start having them. They had to transport him to Marquette General because they didn't have a full time neurologist, and they thought he'd need to be seen by neurologists. We drove to Marquette and got there around 7:15 or 7:30p.m. Monday, he'd just gotten there before us... (His ambulance passed us, on the road..) Apparently he "became agitated" in the ambulance so they gave him more of a sedative and his blood pressure dropped real low. (We're assuming that means he had another seizure or something..) They finally regulated his blood pressure enough to do an MRI, which was the one test they needed, to know what was wrong... They did the MRI around noon on Tuesday.  Tuesday afternoon we had a consult with the Doctor and they told us that he had a massive stroke in the brain stem, and that he was brain dead. They did some EEG's, and there was brain activity, but it was the top of his brain, and the stem is what passes all the info to the rest of the body. He hadn't breathed on his own since Monday afternoon... We decided to keep his body breathing and on life support til my brother Matt could get here from Alaska so that he could "say goodbye," but they'd already declared him dead as of 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14th. The time we spent in the hospital seemed to last forever. Wednesday around 7:15 a.m. my brother made it to the hospital, but we had to wait until 8p.m. to say our final goodbye, when the organ procurement team had arrived from Madison, WI. They found a perfect match for a kidney, a close match for the other kidney and a good match for his liver. We stayed with him until they were ready for him, sang songs to him, prayed, mostly for us, cause we knew he was already in heaven.. It was the most horrible experience I've ever had... it was all so sudden, but then it DRAGGED on.. He had some great nurses and doctors and we are all sure that he'd be bragging about how well they treated him, were he still here. Anyway... it's not easy to adjust back to life... It's so hard to do normal every day things, or to even think. If you could pray for our family, that'd be nice. We are so thankful to have a wonderful family and great group of friends, and appreciate everyone's prayers...

Florida (Pictures on Myspace and FBook)

So we went to Florida, from February 26th-March 6th this year.. Well, due to inclement weather..I didn't make it to Florida, til February 27. My first flight left 4 hours late. They had to put me on a new flight going to Orlando, and that one left 45 minutes late, as well. So.. I didn't get there til almost 1 a.m. I felt so bad for Wing cause he had to wait for me at the airport. Traveling can be SO exhausting. But, once I made it to Florida, the vacation was amazing. It was my first time going to Florida, and I wasn't sure what to expect. I always know when I'm gonna spend time with Wing that I'll have fun tho. He's super amazing that way. So, here's a little re-cap of our vacation in Florida. Wing's family (most of them) came too, and it was a lot of fun.
Friday- Wing and I went to Seaworld, went on the rides, went to the dolphin show and the shamu show. We LOVED Seaworld, it was our favorite! We love going to aquariums and stuff. Also, the rides were fun, and the weather was great. It was sunny and in the 70's.
Saturday- we went to Seaworld again to see all the things we missed the first day. The weather was fantastic again! We tried out the resort pool but then it got windy. We cooked dinner for Wing's family, and just relaxed.
Sunday- We went to Magic Kingdom and it started pouring as soon as we got there. Wing bought us ponchos, and half an hour later, the rain stopped! But, it was much cooler the rest of our trip. I loved Magic Kingdom, it really did seem magical in a way. I mean... I just liked the colorful rides and stuff and how some of it seems surreal. We went on Space Mountain, Mad Tea Party 2x, It's a Small World, Thunder Mountain Railroad 2x and Wing bought me mouse ears. They're cute, they are blue and silver, my favorite colors, and they light up. We also got stuck on the Pirates of the Carribean ride. That was interesting...  Space Mtn. and Mad Tea Party were my favorites tho. We went to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner, none of Wing's family had been there before. I think we watched Ratatouille...good movie!
Monday- This was our relaxation day so we didn't go to any parks. We went to the Chinatown of Orlando and to the market. They had a lot of interesting foods. For dinner we had reservations at Emeril's. It was super nice. We hung out for a few hours at citywalk before dinner. That was a lot of fun.
Tuesday- We went to Animal Kingdom. AK was AWESOME, too! They had a super sweet coaster Expedition Everest that we really enjoyed. Two times. They also had this safari ride where you see real animals, and I liked it a lot, but couldn't get pictures. Wing managed to get a few, but I am just not good at timing pictures right. I think we watched Wall E. I kept falling asleep and trying to call Rose...I was tired!
Wednesday- we went to Magic Kingdom a second time and it was even better. We were more relaxed cause we'd been there once, and we knew what we liked and didn't like.. Jessica had dinner at Cinderella's castle! I think she liked it. I was happy to go back to Magic Kingdom so I could go on Space Mountain 2 more times, and Mad Tea Party again. The only drawback to the whole day, was, I felt like I was in an episode of  "When Animals ATTACK!" Basically... there was a charging squirrel incident..and a seagull incident, all in about a 5 minute time span. One seagull swooped and hit Wing and I both in the head! They were VICIOUS. That night, Wing bought us matching hoodies and we got to watch the fireworks at the castle, it was amazing. It was the perfect ending to the day.
Thursday-Our last full day of vacation..Thursday was bittersweet, cause we knew we'd be going home the next day. We went to Epcot, after a long breakfast meeting with our concierge Rebecca. She was...nice, but pushy. We were glad when the meeting was over. Epcot was awesome. I always wanted to see the giant Epcot ball, and  it looks really cool in person. The first thing we did was go on Mission:Space. There is a lot of hype about this ride about how you need to be in good health and you can get sick and stuff... We went on the intense version, and we were like... what's the hype about ? It was cool, but not super intense like they make it out to be. We also went on the G.M. Test Track, and that was alright. We really liked Soarin' it's a ride that's meant to make you feel kind of like you are flying. It was super cool, I liked it a lot. The Nemo ride was pretty cute too, I just wanted to ride in a clam mobile!! Epcot is awesome, cause they also different cultures you can learn about.. It's quite authentic. We went to the Italian restaurant, and all the waiters and stuff were from Italy and spoke Italian. It's really interesting and quite educational to go to some of the places... there was a cool movie in the China part...only, it made me dizzy. I liked it tho. China looks like a beautiful place. I look forward to going some day! :) At night we watched the fireworks at Epcot, too. They were neat. Not as enjoyable as MK, cause of things obstructing our view and a kid that kept hitting me, but still, they were pretty. It was sad tho, cause Epcot was our last park..
Friday- we had to check out of the villas. Wing's family flew home earlier than him, so we took them to the airport then went to breakfast at the Sizzler. Then, we went to a coffee house type place and got iced latte's and wrote out postcards. We wanted to mail them from Florida. Then we kinda rushed to the airport and checked in...his gate was right next to mine, but they took SO long letting us through security that he had to get on his plane as SOON as we got into the terminal thing. I cried a little, cause I hate seeing him leave...but I'll see him again in 71 days, so I'm not gonna cry anymore! :)
Florida was soo amazing. I didn't know what to expect but we had SO much fun!!

So, things are going pretty well for me. I am at my lowest weight in 8 years! I'm excited about that. I still wanna lose like 48 more lbs...but I am on my way. :) I am also going to Orlando next week, to DIsneyworld, and Seaworld, and Emerils, and I'm really excited! Most excited about seeing Wing, cause I haven't seen him since November. It should be cool to see his nieces reactions to all the stuff at Disneyworld, too. :) We are going with his whole family, minus his brother-in-law, and a nephew.  I also bought some ice skates with my tax return money...the local arenas have free skates or open skates and you only pay a couple dollars. I'm excited. I haven't ice skated since I was like...4, but I think I'll be ok. Wing made me buy knee and elbow pads...haha. He's sweet tho, that he is concerned about me, and doesn't want me to get hurt. Anyway...that's about it.. except, I'm pretty sure that I'm allergic to my sister's dog. I call her Chalupa, but her name is Bella... oh well. I can live with a lot of excess sneezing. At least she's cute. I'll try to remember to post pictures of FL sometime soon after I get back!!!

Ludington!!! (this will be a long one) pictures are all over the place

I know Ludington was a week ago...but I'm just getting around to posting it.

Most of my friends know that my family celebrates Labor Day weekend, at a resort in Ludington, Michigan. It is my FAVORITE holiday of the year, totally blows Christmas away, because it's an enitre weekend of barely any sleep, swimming, shopping, playing games and late night talks with family. It's amazing. As we grow older, certain brothers can't always attend sometimes. This sucks, cause it's really great when everyone can be there. We still manage to have a good time, usually, but it's not the same. This year Joel had to work, so his family couldn't make it, and Matt's family was driving to Alaska, to move there, so they couldn't make it. :( Kyle was in Texas, doing some sort of school for the Air Force... I've never been good with details. Lol.

My parents, Holly and I left Thursday night, since we live so far away. We drove 5 hours to my Aunt's house in Brimley, which is still in the UP but close to the bridge.  So, we left around 10:20 a.m. from Brimley, to drive the rest of the way to Ludington. Since we have such an amazing time there, the drive seems to take FOREVER. This year we had a few surprises so I was even more anxious.
Kyle was going to fly in to Detroit, rent a car and drive up. His wife and kids and my dad and sister had NO idea. Also.. :) my boyfriend Wing was flying to Grand Rapids, and renting a car and driving up. No one knew but my parents and I.

Friday afternoon we got to the resort around 4:30 I think. Sarah and the kids were already there. We unpacked the car and went swimming. I knew Wing's flight wasn't landing til 11:59 p.m...so this night DRAGGED. Lots of fun swimming with the kids tho. After swimming, Paul and Danielle arrived (during, actually). Holly, Paul and I went to Walmart for groceries and dinner. After dinner, I think we just talked and stuff, and everyone went to sleep fairly early. So it was just Jen, my mom and I talking and stuff. I had to wait up for Wing, the resort is kind of in the woods...so I wanted to drive to Walmart, and have him follow me the rest of the way. Well, it was super foggy, so I definitely wanted him to have someone to follow in. I said I had to go to walmart at like 1:30 a.m. and Jen was like, oh I'll drive you. So, Jen and I hopped in the Vibe and took a trip to Walmart...and they were closed. It's a SUPERCENTER, but it closed at 12a.m. What's super about it?? I don't get it. So Jen is like, let's just go down the road to Meijer! I was like "NO! Let's just wait here.." So, she figured out that Wing was coming. LOL. We wanted to surprise her...but when a non-super supercenter foils your plans...you have no choice. So, Wing drove into the parking lot around 2 a.m. or a little earlier, I'm not sure. Then he followed us to the resort. He hadn't eaten all day, so I gave him some leftovers and we just talked til like 3 or 3:30 then we all went to sleep. Holly woke up in the middle of the night and did a double take, cause she was shocked that Wing was there. It was great.

Saturday morning we always go to the flea market. We had a contest to see who could get the coolest thing for 2$ or less. No one ever judges, and there's really no point, but I guess it makes people try to enjoy the otherwise bland flea market. After the flea market, we had sandwiches, and went swimming. I took Wing for a walk to show him the bayou and stuff, where we used to fish, but the dock is falling apart and it was overgrown with seaweed. We had dinner, then smores, and played Apples to Apples with Sarah and the kids. It was a funny game. After that, Wing and I had to go shopping for more groceries, but on the way we stopped at the beach and walked out to the lighthouse, and Wing got some pictures of the sun setting. It was super pretty. When we got back from Walmart, we played peanuts, and did poorly, cause we had LOUSY cards. So we went to sleep at like 3 or something...

Sunday morning Holly made a ton of french toast for breakfast, then we had family church. (my dad does a little message, and we sing praise songs and Paul plays guitar) On Sunday, we always go shopping in downtown Ludington. Wing and I got some better playing cards. :) After shopping we always go to House of Flavors, for ice cream. It's an awesome place for ice cream, and who doesn't love ice cream? This year my uncle Paul and aunt Jodie came shopping for a bit, and Renee and Tony and the kids came too, so that was rad that we got to see them!! After ice cream, we went back to the resort to go swimming. After swimming, Wing, Jen and I made chicken fajitas. It took a long time to make them, but they were super good, so I think it was worth the wait. After dinner, we had a birthday party for the September birthdays (Danielle and Christopher). The kids got some glow bracelets and necklaces, and they had sparklers, and had a lot of fun. The kids were a little wound up, but when they finally went to sleep, we had our final peanuts tournament. Wing and I were really good that night, cause we had new good cards. It was a lot of fun. Everyone went to sleep a little earlier that night.

Wing and I had to wake up super early Monday cause he had to drive to GR and fly back to Boston. It happened to be our 10 month anniversary, so we went to Big Boy for breakfast, since Wing had never been to a Big Boy. It was nice to be able to talk and hang out for a little before he had to leave. We went back to the resort and Wing said goodbye to the family, and he had to drive to GR. After Wing left, everyone had to pack up their stuff and try to get the cabins looking like they were when we got there. This is a challenge... lol. So, everyone went their seperate ways, thankful for an awesome weekend, but sad to be leaving.

It's about time!

Well, I finally got a new LJ! I kept avoiding the old one, because it had the name Dean in it, and I am NOT a Dean. I don't have all that much to post.. I've been working 2 jobs, and trying to stay healthy. I'm going to Indiana in June, and I'm very excited about that. Also excited cause my boyfriend will be visiting IN with me. This will be the first time in YEARS that my family and friends have met a significant other of mine, because, well, the husband lived in another country, and no one met him. (now we know, that it's probably better that they didn't..) Paul and Danielle are driving up in May to visit and I'm super excited. They're coming the week of my birthday. :) I miss them like crazy. I haven't seen them since September. So...I have to plan who to see while we're in IN, so Oy/Bar/Tammy- do you wanna hang out one night?? Let me know!!!
